My Story
Tales in Texture was started in 2020 to keep my mind off the of the COVID-19 pandemic. I started hand-sewing a king-size quilt and it took two years. I had no idea what I was doing, yet it served its purpose and kept my
mind and fingers busy.
During all those hours a seed was sewn. Apologies for the pun! I have always loved textiles and colour. I set myself no boundaries exploring layering of paint, printing, mark-making, textiles, and free-motion embroidery.
I am like a child in a sweet shop, trying everything and then choosing what feels
right and exploring those techniques. Each piece is a delightful adventure of discovery.
I take my inspiration from nature with its array of colours and textures, a feast for our
eyes, whether it’s winter or summer. Art, whether it is drama, music or pictures must
have an emotional response and I try and do that with my work. Using colour, shapes,
and depth by layering paint, printing, textiles, and sewing, I hope to trigger
emotions in the viewer.
I love my little studio tucked away in the Sussex countryside. Its my haven where
I go and create pieces that I love to share with others.
